ZF Appoints Mathias Miedreich To Lead Electrified Powertrain Technology Division

Miedreich will oversee ZF’s Electrified Powertrain Technology division, playing a pivotal role in the company’s transition to electric mobility.

ZF Friedrichshafen AG’s Supervisory Board has appointed Mathias Miedreich, 49, to the company’s Board of Management, effective January 1, 2025.

Miedreich brings extensive experience from the automotive sector. He graduated in Business Administration from Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and has held key management positions at Siemens, Continental, and Faurecia, both in Germany and internationally. In 2021, he became the CEO of Umicore, a global leader in materials technology and circular economy solutions, a role he held until May 2024.

Dr Heinrich Hiesinger, Chairman of ZF’s Supervisory Board, said, “With Mathias Miedreich, we are strengthening our Board of Management team as we work to enhance ZF’s competitiveness. As the future head of the Electrified Powertrain Technology division, he will navigate the challenges posed by the shift towards electric mobility. His knowledge of global value chains and sustainable mobility aligns well with our strategic goals.”

Andreas Brand, Chairman of the Zeppelin Foundation, which owns 93.8% of ZF’s shares, added, “We are counting on Mathias Miedreich’s automotive industry expertise and his experience in electric mobility to drive ZF’s strategic transformation. His appointment supports our focus on adapting to evolving market demands and technological innovations.”

Miedreich’s appointment marks a significant step in ZF’s efforts to reinforce its leadership in electric powertrain solutions, as the company continues to align its offerings with the growing demand for sustainable mobility.
