New age EV maker Zen Mobility has announced its first range of mobility solutions that include a multi-purpose 4-wheeler Light Electric Vehicles (LEV) - ‘Zen Maxi Pod’ and a purpose-built cargo 3W LEV - ‘Zen Micro Pod’.
Micro Pod has undergone several road tests across various parameters, including rough roads, steep slopes, and water wading tests and has been certified by ARAI for its drivability, manoeuvrability, durability, and performance.
Designed in Germany and built indigenously, the Zen Micro Pod and Maxi Pod will be manufactured in India using locally sourced components, the company noted.
The Micro Pod, aimed at addressing long-standing problems of riders and delivery partners in last-mile delivery, will be unveiled in early 2023. It is powered by the company’s patented EV drivetrain technology and is customisable to suit the varying nature of delivery operations.
Meanwhile, the Zen Maxi Pod is slated to be unveiled in 2024 and has been for both passenger commute and goods delivery, a press release from Zen Mobility stated.
Interestingly, these vehicles feature a lightweight construction with composite chassis made from a combination of carbon and glass fibre to enhance the specific performance-to-weight ratio, the release added.
Namit Jain, Founder and CEO, Zen Mobility, said, “We have critically analysed the dynamic and complex nature of scenarios like last-mile delivery and intra-city goods mobility, and the challenges that users face during their transit.”
He noted that the company has taken a design thinking approach towards conceptualising and executing solutions in the form of Light Electric Vehicles (LEV). The company hopes to achieve annual sales of 100,000 units in India and take its new-generation products to the global market.
