ZELIO Ebikes Launches Tanga Butterfly & Tanga SS E-Rickshaws

New models mark entry into e-rickshaw segment with focus on last-mile connectivity.

ZELIO Ebikes has entered the e-rickshaw segment with the launch of its first models under its new Tanga brand name, Tanga Butterfly and Tanga SS. Designed for urban and semi-urban commuters, the e-rickshaws are priced at INR 1,45,000 for the Tanga Butterfly and INR 1,40,000 for the Tanga SS, all prices ex-showroom.

The Tanga Butterfly is constructed with mild steel (MS) and the Tanga SS is built with stainless steel (SS), powered by a 1200W motor and a 48/60V 135Ah Eastman battery offering a range of 100 km on a single charge and a top speed of 30 kmph. The models feature an 8-hour charging time and come with SMPS chargers equipped with voltage fluctuation protection for safe and efficient charging.

ZELIO’s new e-rickshaws boast robust features such as advanced braking systems, including front lever-operated drum brakes, rear paddle-operated drum brakes, and a mechanical hand-operated parking brake. To enhance ride comfort, the vehicles are equipped with 43mm telescopic hydraulic shockers at the front and leaf spring shockers at the rear. Built on a high-rigidity monocoque chassis, the rickshaws offer durability and safety, making them suitable for diverse road conditions.

Both models cater to driver and passenger convenience with a host of features, including wide front glass with wipers, LED cabin lights, FM radio with double speakers, LED headlamps with DRLs, digital meters, and central locking systems. Additional accessories include a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and tool kit. The Tanga Butterfly is available in colours like Red, Grey, and Sky Blue, while the Tanga SS comes in shades such as Blue, Parrot Green, and Sea Blue.

The Tanga Butterfly and Tanga SS also include financing options through AKASHA and TRY Wheels to simplify the purchase process. ZELIO is actively expanding its dealership network, aiming to reach 400 outlets by March 2025, ensuring specialised support for this new category.
