Yuma Energy, one of India’s fastest-growing battery-as-a-service (BaaS) companies, has announced the acquisition of Grinntech Motors & Services Pvt. Ltd., a Chennai-based startup specializing in advanced energy storage solutions. This move strengthens Yuma Energy’s position as a leader in India’s rapidly expanding EV and clean energy market.

By integrating Grinntech’s expertise in battery technology, R&D, and manufacturing, Yuma Energy aims to build a fully integrated BaaS ecosystem, covering:

    • Battery design and production
    • Intelligent charging infrastructure
    • A multi-city battery swapping network
    • Technology-driven operations and a seamless customer experience

“This acquisition is a strategic step towards bolstering our in-house expertise in battery management systems, R&D, and manufacturing,” said Muthu Subramanian, Managing Director & General Manager, Yuma Energy. “By leveraging Grinntech’s cutting-edge technology, we will continue to set new benchmarks in performance, reliability, and safety.”

The acquisition follows a successful 18-month partnership, during which Yuma and Grinntech collaborated to develop a next-generation battery unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo’s Bharat Battery Show in January 2025.

Grinntech’s co-founders, Puneet Jain and Nikhilesh Mishra, expressed enthusiasm about joining forces with Yuma. “Together, we will continue to push the boundaries of battery innovation and accelerate India’s clean energy transition,” said Jain.
