In view of the rising COVID-19 cases in the country, India Yamaha Motor (IYM) has decided to suspend manufacturing operations at its plants in Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu) and Surajpur (Uttar Pradesh) from May 15, 2021, till May 31, May 2021, the company said in a press statement.

The step has been taken to support the government in its fight against COVID-19 and break the chain of transmission of the virus. In the current scenario, the health and safety of its employees is the top priority for the company. 

Yamaha will continue to work closely with its dealers and suppliers to minimise the impact of this interruption and focus on optimisation of stock.

Last week Hero Motocorp and Maruti Suzuki extended their shut down till May 16, 2021.  India recorded more than 3.66 lakh new cases and over 3,700 deaths on May 10, 2021
