INDEA, under the leadership of the XLRI Centre for Automobile Design & Management (XADM), has announced a strategic partnership with ATS India (Automotive Test Systems) to develop India's first dedicated automotive design and management school.

As part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Avik Chattopadhyay, Chairperson of XADM and Founder of INDEA, and S Ramanathan, Managing Director of ATS India, ATS will manage the entire project, overseeing the design, setup, and commissioning of a state-of-the-art design studio and prototyping facility. This includes specifying software, hardware, equipment, and infrastructure, as well as selecting top-tier vendors and securing long-term maintenance contracts. The collaboration seeks to enhance resource utilisation for research and testing while fostering knowledge exchange between the two organisations.

Dr K S Casimir, Director of XLRI Delhi-NCR, said, 'This collaboration with ATS is a crucial step toward building a world-class design facility at our school. Their expertise will help us establish an institution that will make the nation proud.'

Chattopadhyay added, 'To create a global benchmark, we need the best domain experts, and we are privileged to have ATS on board to design and build the facilities that will define India’s first dedicated automobile design school.'

Ramanathan highlighted the school's impact, noting that the Automotive Design Management Centre will allow students to learn design, prototyping, vehicle integration, and basic testing and validation. “This facility will not only benefit students but also industry startups, who can use it for product development, creating a strong industry-academia collaboration in the automotive sector,' he said.

Upon completion, the facility will be managed by XADM and XLRI Delhi-NCR, positioning the school as a premier destination for automotive design education and innovation. This collaboration will bridge the gap between academia and industry, empowering students to develop the skills needed to excel in the rapidly evolving automotive industry and create sustainable mobility solutions.
