Wheels India, a TSF group company, will start retailing its flow form wheels in India and global markets before the end of FY24. The flow forming technology in cast alloy wheels is one of the most advanced manufacturing technologies in the wheel industry, the company said.
Wheels India showcased its cast flow form wheels range at the recently-concluded Auto Expo Components Show 2023.
The technology involves the application of pressure to the wheel while spinning and after it has been cast. This process stretches and compresses the aluminium, which enhances mechanical properties, said the company.
In this respect, the release stated that the process shares similar properties to those found in the forging process. The final product is lighter, stronger, and has a much greater shock resistance over a traditional cast wheel (of the same design), the company said.
