Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has announced that the WagonR has retained its position as India’s highest-selling passenger car for the financial year 2024-25, with a total of 1,98,451 units sold. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the WagonR has achieved this feat, further solidifying its place in Indian households as a dependable and practical vehicle. The model’s cumulative sales have now crossed 33.7 lakh units, reflecting a strong customer base and continued relevance in a competitive market.

A key point of note is that one in every four WagonR customers is a repeat buyer, a sign of the car’s strong value proposition and brand loyalty among consumers. The car continues to appeal to a wide section of buyers, particularly first-time owners and families, owing to its reliable performance and spacious design.

Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, stated that hatchbacks continue to be a vital segment in India’s automobile industry and the WagonR’s leadership highlights its importance in the long-term growth of the sector.

The WagonR is available with two K-Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine options—a 1.0-litre and a 1.2-litre—offering a combination of power and efficiency. Buyers can choose between manual and Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission systems. In addition to its petrol variants, the S-CNG version remains among the highest-selling CNG cars in the country, reinforcing its position in the green mobility space.
