German vehicle maker Volkswagen India launched its second product under India 2.0 Project, the Virtus, starting at an introductory price of INR 1,121,900, ex-showroom, India for the Dynamic Line, while the Performance line is priced at INR 1,791,900, ex-showroom, India.
Built on the MQB-AO-IN platform with a localised content of 95%, the sedan measures 4,561mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,651mm, 1,507 mm in height and a width of 1,752 mm; it comes with a 521 litres boot, making it the biggest sedan in its segment.
Klaus Zellmer, Board Member- Sales, Marketing and After Sales, Volkwagen Passenger Car, said that the launch of the new sedan completes the group’s commitment for the India 2.0 project. It also completes the company’s global line-up of sedans, he added.

Available with two engine options and three gearbox options, the Dynamic line features a 1.0 TSI petrolunit mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic churning out 110PS of power and 178Nm of torque.
While the Performance Line packs in a 1.5L TSI unit under the hood mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission with a power output of 150PS and 250Nm of torque. Additionally, the engine also features cylinder deactivation just as its mechanical twin, the Skoda Slavia, to save fuel under low loads.
The interior of the vehicle greets with a 20.32cm digital instrument cluster, 25.65cm infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless mobile charger, front ventilated seats, four USB ports, eight speakers, and auto headlights, electric sunroof, cooled glove box, rain sensors among others.
It also gets the My Volkswagen connect app with functionalities including trip analysis, Records and Prompts, Live Tracking, Driving Behavior and Safety and Security.
It boasts 40 safety features, including six airbags, ESC, Hill Hold Assist, TPDW, Multi-Collision brakes, Electronic Differential Lock, three-point seatbelts for all the seats, and hydraulic brake boosters, among others, as standard.
In terms of warranty, the sedan is offered with the company’s standard 4Ever Care package with four years or 100,000 kms standard warranty, four years of roadside assistance and three free services.
Available in six shades, including Wild Cherry Red, Carbon Steel Grey, Rising Blue, Candy White, Reflex Silver and Curcuma Yellow, the car gets a set of 16-inch alloy rims in dual tone finish for the Dynamic Line, while the alloy rims in the Performance line are painted black. Moreover, the higher trim also gets a dual-tone paint option and a rear spoiler and a couple of GT badges placed around the car.
Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, confirmed that the company has revceived 4000 bookings for the Virtus sinch March this year and it aims to sell around 2000 units of the same on a monthly basis in FY23.
