Volvo Trucks India made a significant mark at Bharat Mobility 2025 by showcasing their cutting-edge FM 420 4X2 LNG tractor and the FM 4X2 tractor equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). These technological advancements highlight Volvo Trucks’ ongoing commitment to driving innovation and sustainability in India’s logistics sector.
The FM 4X2 LNG tractor, powered by High Pressure Direct Injection (HPDI) technology, promises to revolutionise operations by reducing logistics costs and minimising environmental impact. This spark-free technology makes the vehicle ideal for transporting hazardous goods safely. Compared to traditional spark-ignited LNG engines, the HPDI system offers superior fuel efficiency and operational performance. In fact, it delivers a 20% reduction in CO₂ emissions, which can increase to 100% when powered by Bio LNG, offering a compelling solution for sustainable transportation. The tractor is paired with a 38 CuM tip-trailer, which features automatic tarpaulin systems, designed to tackle challenges in construction and mining sectors. It enhances operational efficiency by reducing waiting times, curbing pollution, and facilitating high-frequency operations, which are essential for these industries.
The FM 4X2 tractor with ADAS is a further testament to Volvo’s commitment to safety and operational efficiency. Equipped with a Camera Monitoring System (CMS), which replaces traditional mirrors, the vehicle offers improved driver visibility and aerodynamics. It also comes with advanced safety features such as Forward Collision Warning, Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Departure Warning. These technologies work in harmony to not only enhance driver safety but also optimise overall operational efficiency by reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring smoother journeys.
In addition to these innovations, Volvo Trucks introduced its state-of-the-art Fuel Efficiency Services, a comprehensive offering that integrates advanced telematics through the Volvo Connect platform with Virtual Reality (VR) driver training modules. This system monitors over 400 driver parameters in real-time, identifies skill gaps, and provides tailored training to improve fleet performance. These services are designed to not only enhance operational efficiency but also to ensure the well-being of drivers, making the entire fleet management process smarter and more sustainable.
Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director & CEO of VE Commercial Vehicles, commented, “Volvo Trucks’ unwavering focus on quality, safety, and environmental care has positioned us as a leader in the Indian market. With our advanced LNG solutions and commitment to sustainable practices, our customers can move towards cleaner, more efficient operations without compromising on productivity.
