Volvo Group India marked a significant milestone by organising its first-ever Pride March at Bagmane Tech Park. This event provided a wonderful opportunity for employees to unite, show their support for the LGBTQ+ community, and celebrate the inclusive culture that the company strives to foster.

Leadership, Employee Participation

Members of Volvo Group India’s Leadership Team joined employees in walking in solidarity to support LGBTQ+ inclusion. The active participation of the leadership team was more than just a gesture; it was a powerful testament to Volvo’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Their presence served as a strong symbol of the company’s dedication to these values and aimed to inspire others to embrace and celebrate diversity, a communication from Volvo Group India, stated.

The highlight of the event is the march that featured a Volvo truck accompanying the participants, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. The event began with inspiring words from the leadership team, setting a positive and inclusive tone. Participants were provided with Pride-themed materials, and the march concluded with a Swedish fika, offering coffee and snacks, to foster further camaraderie and reflection.

Pride Month Initiatives

In addition to the Pride March, Volvo Group India initiated several engaging and empowering activities across its city offices and factories during Pride Month. These included awareness sessions featuring screenings of LGBTQ+ themed movies to educate and promote understanding; a Pride photobooth, offering a creative space for employees to showcase their allyship; an art event, providing an avenue for employees to express their support for the LGBTQ+ community creatively; a live musical event performed by Volvo Group’s in-house band celebrating diversity; and a webinar featuring Adam Harry, India’s first transgender pilot, who shared his inspiring journey.

These initiatives underscore Volvo Group India’s commitment to fostering an environment of inclusion and allyship, ensuring that all employees feel valued and supported. By actively engaging its leadership and employees, the company continues to set a positive example in the industry, championing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
