Volvo will expand its EV lineup in India over the year by adding the EX90 and EX30 SUVs. The automaker has confirmed that it will be bringing both electric vehicles and by 2025 will have four EVs in its lineup. We expect bookings to open by mid-2024 and deliveries in early 2025.
EX90
The EX90 is Volvo’s flagship electric SUV and depending on the market either replaces the XC90 or stands alongside it. The SUV can be had either in a five-seat or seven-seat layout with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive and a maximum output of 515bhp and a range of 590km. The feature list includes level-3 autonomous driving, climate control, powered seats and dual digital displays.
EX30
The EX30 is a new subcompact model that Volvo launched in mid-2023. It comes in below the XC40 recharge and depending on your choice can be had with a single motor or a twin-motor set-up. The range varies from 340km to 460km while the output from the motors starts at 276bhp and tops out at 428bhp depending on the powertrain.
Betting big on electric
With the arrival of these cars, Volvo’s proportion of EV to ICE models will skew in favour of the former. It will be one of the few manufacturers in the country with such a proportion in its vehicle lineup.
