Volvo Trucks has secured a substantial order for 100 electric trucks from DFDS, a leading shipping and logistics company in Northern Europe. This latest order adds to DFDS' existing fleet, with a total of 225 electric trucks ordered from Volvo. The partnership reflects DFDS' commitment to providing sustainable transport solutions and reducing its environmental footprint.

With 95 electric trucks already operational across several European countries and the remaining 30 scheduled for delivery in 2024, DFDS has made significant strides in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The company has already cut emissions by 1,516 tonne by the end of 2023, thanks to its growing electric truck fleet.

The new order will see the deployment of Volvo FH Electric and FM Electric trucks in nine European markets, including the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden. These updated and energy-efficient models will contribute to DFDS' goal of electrifying at least 25% of its truck fleet by 2030.

Niklas Anderson, EVP of the Logistic Division at DFDS, emphasises the company's commitment to sustainable road transport and supporting companies in decarbonising their supply chains. The addition of 100 new electric trucks underscores DFDS' dedication to driving progress in this area.

Notably, some of the new electric trucks will be utilised for transporting goods to and from Volvo Trucks' assembly plant in Gothenburg. Volvo Trucks, a pioneer in electric truck technology, has been leading the way in promoting zero-emission transport solutions worldwide. With a diverse range of electric models catering to various transport needs, the truck maker continues to expand its presence in the electric vehicle market.
