Volvo Cars has announced the adoption of Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform to accelerate the development of its electric vehicles. The decision strengthens the long-standing partnership between the two companies, with Volvo aiming to streamline design processes and optimise collaboration across global teams as it transitions into a fully electric car manufacturer.
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform supports automakers in managing the increasing complexity of electric, connected and autonomous vehicles. By integrating real-time data sharing and collaborative tools, the platform enables engineers to reduce design time, improve part reuse, enhance product quality and meet regulatory demands more efficiently. For Volvo Cars, this adoption will significantly advance its ability to deliver innovative solutions in the competitive electric vehicle market.
The transition eliminates data silos and enhances collaborative design and problem-solving processes. Volvo’s engineering teams will leverage Dassault’s industry-specific solutions, including “Efficient Multi-Energy Platform”, “Global Modular Architecture”, “Smart, Safe & Connected” and “Sustainable Multi-functional Vehicle”. These tools focus on improving part traceability, validation cycles and quality control while enabling the reuse of modular components to reduce costs and lead times.
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform will allow Volvo’s engineers to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and regions, ensuring that the company can deliver advanced electric vehicle solutions in line with its sustainability targets.
