Volvo Car India has announced commencement of deliveries for the XC40 Recharge. The first car was delivered in Gujarat on Wednesday by Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director.
Launched at a starting price of INR 55.90 lakh, ex-showroom, the EV is assembled at the carmakers facility in Bengaluru. Malhotra said it has garnered over 150 bookings through the company’s online platform within two hours of opening bookings on July 27.
With an order book of over 500, the company plans to deliver the first 100 units of the e-SUV by the end of 2022, he added. By 2030, Volvo Car India aims to offer only EVs and phase out all vehicles with internal combustion engines, including hybrids.
The aim is in-line with its global entity’s climate plan, which aims to minimise the lifecycle carbon footprint per car through tangible action on a consistent basis.
