Volkswagen India has announced the upcoming launch of two globally recognised performance models, the all-new Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line and the legendary Golf GTI. The announcement comes as Volkswagen India reports a 3% year-on-year growth in sales volumes as of February 2025, highlighting a strong start to the year. The company attributes this growth to its existing portfolio, including the made-in-India Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus, which have successfully carried forward the brand’s global standards in the Indian market.
Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen India, stated that the company is excited to introduce these “global icons” to the Indian market. He emphasised that the Golf GTI and Tiguan R-Line are aspirational models that align with Volkswagen’s legacy of performance and driving pleasure. The introduction of these models is expected to generate strong interest among driving enthusiasts and brand loyalists.
The Tiguan R-Line is expected to build upon Volkswagen’s SUV line-up with sportier design elements and enhanced driving capabilities. Meanwhile, the Golf GTI, a name synonymous with performance hatchbacks, is anticipated to cater to enthusiasts looking for a dynamic and engaging driving experience. Pricing details are yet to be disclosed, but the brand’s expansion suggests a clear push towards capturing a larger share of the premium automotive market.
