German car manufacturer, Volkswagen, today launched the facelifted version of its SUV, Tiguan at an introductory price of INR 31.99 lakh, ex-showroom, India, making it the brand’s fourth product to be launched in India.
Assembled at the company’s Aurangabad facility, the new five-seater will only be offered in the Elegance trim as of now, and the expected delivery time is stated to be starting by mid-January 2022.
In line with other VW products, the new Tiguan is also offered with a 4-year maintenance package for INR 63,558. According to the vehicle manufacturer, it decreases maintenance expenses by 23%. Furthermore, there are extended warranty options, starting at INR 31,499. The standard warranty is four years/1,00,000 km and can be extended to seven years/1,50,000 km.
Based on the MQB platform, the vehicle now gets updated styling in line with the brand’s current design language featuring LED Matrix headlights and LED DRLs, new fog lamps, and slimmer LED taillights.
Along with the cosmetic alterations, the interior is updated with a wide touchscreen, three-zone automatic air conditioning, cruise control, My Volkswagen Connect, digital instrument cluster, dynamic cornering lighting, panoramic sunroof, Vienna leather seats, and many other features.
On the safety side, VW has packed the Tiguan with six airbags, electronic stability control, ABS, hill start assist and hill descent control, tyre-pressure monitoring system, anti-slip regulation, engine drag torque control, driver alert system along with other safety features.
The updated vehicle is powered by the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder TSI engine mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission delivering 190 Ps and 320 Nm of torque. The power is sent to all four wheels via the 4motion all-wheel-drive system, which is standard across the range.
Available in seven colour options, Nightshade Blue, Pure White, Oryx White, Kings Red, Reflex Silver, Deep Black, and Dolphin Grey, the booking for the new vehicle is commencing from today onwards.
First unveiled earlier in November, the new product competes with the Jeep Compass, Citroen C5 Aircross, and Hyundai Tucson. In addition, the seven-seater Tiguan All-Space has been phased out in conjunction with this launch.
