Visteon Corporation, a global leader in automotive cockpit electronics and connected car solutions, has inaugurated its new Global Capability Center (GCC) in Kolkata, India. Set to commence operations in January 2025, the facility reaffirms Visteon’s strategic focus on India as a hub for cutting-edge automotive technology development.
The inauguration was attended by key dignitaries, including President and CEO Sachin Lawande, who highlighted the importance of the Kolkata centre in advancing Visteon’s Android-based infotainment and cockpit software solutions. “India has been central to our strategy for over 20 years, with over 2,000 of our people driving automotive innovation. The new Kolkata centre strengthens our focus on Android-based automotive solutions and expands our fastest-growing product portfolio,” said Lawande.
Strategically located, Kolkata offers a robust talent ecosystem and proximity to premier engineering institutions, making it an ideal hub for advanced software and technology development. The centre will serve as a Center of Excellence (COE) specialing in autonomous vehicle solutions, cybersecurity, multimedia & remote projection, cloud technologies, and Android-based infotainment.
The facility is designed as a USGBC LEED Platinum-certified building, incorporating solar panels and water recycling systems to promote energy efficiency and sustainability.
Visteon’s India operations play a crucial role in its global strategy, with advanced technical centres in Chennai, Goa, Bangalore, Pune, Trivandrum, and Coimbatore. Indian teams have consistently delivered breakthroughs in connected car technology, further establishing the country as a critical innovation hub. To nurture local talent, Visteon is enhancing its early career programs and partnering with leading universities.
The new Kolkata center is set to strengthen Visteon’s capability to deliver next-generation automotive solutions, supporting automakers worldwide in their journey towards smarter and more sustainable mobility.
