VECV Hosts Swedish Ambassador mobility outlook

VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV) welcomed H.E. Jan Thesleff, Swedish Ambassador to India, to its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. The visit marked the 17th anniversary of the partnership showcasing VECV as a successful model of collaboration between India and Sweden. Accompanying the Ambassador were Markus Lundgren, Counsellor and Head of Trade at the Swedish Embassy, and Sofia Högman, Swedish Trade Commissioner from Business Sweden.

Ambassador Thesleff praised the joint venture during his visit describing it as an exemplary partnership harnessing the strengths of both nations to drive mutual growth, innovation, and sustainability. He noted that over 280 Swedish companies operate in India directly generating over 240,000 jobs across sectors like automobiles, communications, and defence. The advanced technology products and sustainable manufacturing processes at VECV were highlighted as key achievements of this collaboration, reflecting the shared values of environmental stewardship and technological progress.

Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO, VECV, stated that the venture has modernised India’s commercial vehicle sector by combining Volvo’s technological expertise with Eicher’s deep understanding of local market needs. Additionally, VECV’s contribution to Volvo Group’s global operations, including the production of engines and transmission components, has strengthened the partnership’s international relevance.

Sustainability was a key focus of the visit. VECV’s commitment to environmentally responsible manufacturing is evident in its Bhopal plant, developed on Industry 4.0 principles to integrate smart technologies and minimise environmental impact. VECV also offers a diverse range of alternate fuel and electric vehicles, including the Eicher Pro E electric bus and the Eicher Pro 2055 EV, India’s first 5.5-tonne electric truck.
