Valeo and Qualcomm have announced an extended collaboration to enhance safety and connectivity for the small mobility segment, particularly 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers, in India.
The collaboration aims to enhance safety and provide an always-connected digital experience for riders of 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers. They will utilize Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions from Qualcomm Technologies and Valeo's technologies for display, telematics, and sensors. These combined efforts will result in a comprehensive solution that includes embedded cellular modems, connected displays, driver assistance features, and connected clusters.
One of the primary benefits of this partnership is that it will allow riders to stay connected to their favourite smartphone applications, navigation systems, and cloud-based entertainment while remaining focused on the road. Moreover, the connectivity will enhance vehicle safety by providing real-time traffic and road risk information, software and cybersecurity updates, and tracking monitoring of the 2- and 3-wheelers.
India's 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler markets are experiencing rapid growth, and the collaboration between Valeo and Qualcomm Technologies aims to take advantage of the strong local presence and manufacturing capabilities of both companies. By working together, they intend to offer original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) complete solutions based on the latest automotive technologies.
Marc Vrecko, President of Valeo’s Comfort and Driving Assistance Systems Business Group, expressed his excitement about the partnership, highlighting the potential to design and produce a new generation of connected displays tailored to local requirements. Nakul Duggal, SVP and GM of Automotive & Cloud Computing at Qualcomm Technologies, emphasized the goal of delivering advanced safety features and personalized user experiences for riders in the 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler markets in India.
The collaboration's success is expected to be underpinned by Valeo's long-standing presence in India, supporting automotive OEMs and local technology development. With over 6,500 employees, including 3,200 engineers and 8 production sites, Valeo's local R&D centre will play a significant role in achieving the collaboration's objectives, contributing to safer and more connected mobility in India.
