The facility is expected to enhance Valeo’s ability to meet the increasing demand for electric vehicle (EV) components in India, particularly the On-Board Power Supply 3-in-1 combination unit.

Valeo Expands Electrification mobility outlook

Valeo has expanded its operations in India with the inauguration of a new production facility in Pune, dedicated to power electronics products. The facility covers over 7,000 square metres and is a significant step in Valeo’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence in India's rapidly growing electrification sector.

Jayakumar G, Group President and Managing Director of Valeo India, expressed the importance of this development, stating, 'This new facility in Pune is a key element of our strategic plan for deeper localisation and long-term competitiveness in electrification products. As the EV market in India expands, we are prepared to deliver technology solutions that are both adaptable to the Indian market and cost-competitive.'

The facility will focus on producing the On-Board Power Supply 3-in-1 combo unit, a compact and efficient power solution for electric vehicles. The unit integrates three essential components: the On-Board Charger (OBC), DC-DC converter, and Power Distribution Unit (PDU). This modular design offers significant savings in components and enhances overall efficiency in electric vehicles.

Over the past five years, Valeo has employed over 40 individuals with disabilities at the site. Furthermore, Valeo has installed a 900 kW rooftop solar panel in the existing plant and plans to expand with an additional 700 kW at the new facility. The company has also replaced employee transport buses with BS VI-compliant vehicles and introduced electric vehicles for guest commutes, all in an effort to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency.
