Uno Minda Limited celebrated a landmark moment with the ground-breaking of its new greenfield alloy wheel manufacturing facility in IMT Kharkhoda, Haryana. This strategic expansion underlines the company's commitment to scaling up its production capabilities and reinforcing its position as a key supplier to the automotive sector. Located in the industrial township of IMT Kharkhoda, the new plant signifies Uno Minda's proactive approach to capitalising on the region's emerging status as an automotive hub.
The event drew an array of distinguished guests, including key OEM customers, government representatives, and Uno Minda's executive leadership, highlighting the project's significance to the industry and the region. The plant is set to commence operations in the second quarter of FY26, with the initial phase occupying approximately 25 acres of the 94.32-acre land parcel acquired by Uno Minda at HSIIDC, IMT Kharkhoda.
The company's land acquisition strategy reflects a broader vision to align its growth with the automotive industry's trajectory, which is seeing OEMs ramp up production capacities. Uno Minda's recent land purchases in prime automotive clusters like Pune, Hosur, and now Kharkhoda, coupled with plans for expansion in Gujarat, demonstrate a strategic shift towards securing large land parcels to facilitate rapid and future growth.
This shift in strategy not only enables Uno Minda to expedite its expansion plans but also allows for the consolidation of operations, leading to improved efficiency and economies of scale. By pre-empting land acquisition delays, the company can swiftly respond to market opportunities, enhancing its competitiveness and operational agility.
Nirmal K Minda, CMD of Uno Minda Group, emphasised the company's vision to drive the next phase of growth through the establishment of large-scale manufacturing facilities. This initiative aligns with the Indian government's 'Aatmnirbhar Bharat' (self-reliant India) mission, aiming to bolster domestic manufacturing capabilities and technological prowess.
