Uno Minda Limited, a global Tier-1 supplier of proprietary automotive systems and solutions to OEMs, has announced a significant strategic restructuring of its leadership and Board of Directors, effective April 1, 2025, as part of its ongoing efforts to reinforce corporate governance and build a sustainable, future-ready organisation.
In a move aligning with global best practices, Uno Minda will separate the roles of Chairman and Managing Director. Ravi Mehra, currently Deputy Managing Director, will be elevated to Managing Director, taking charge of the company’s overall operations and execution. Meanwhile, Nirmal Kumar Minda, who has steered the organisation’s growth as Chairman and Managing Director, will assume the role of Executive Chairman, focusing on long-term strategy, leadership mentoring, and organisational development.
Nirmal Kumar Minda said, “This strategic realignment and the strengthening of our Board reflect Uno Minda’s commitment to robust corporate governance and building a sustainable organisation. We are confident that Ravi Mehra’s leadership and the diverse expertise of our new Board members will be invaluable in driving Uno Minda’s continued success.”
Mehra, a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, has been with Uno Minda since 1995 and brings over 30 years of industry experience to his new leadership role.
Board Expansion To Enhance Expertise, Diversity
In addition to the leadership transition, Uno Minda also announced a strengthening of its Board of Directors, bringing in accomplished professionals across sectors:
- Shekar Viswanathan joins as an Independent Director, bringing over four decades of industry experience. He previously served as Vice Chairman and Whole-time Director at Toyota Kirloskar Motor and is a chartered accountant with a background in economics from the University of Madras.
- Abhay Damle, also appointed as Independent Director, is a former IRS officer and mechanical engineer from IIT Delhi, with an extensive background in public policy and transport infrastructure. He has served in key roles including Joint Secretary at MoRTH and Director of the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT), Pune.
- Paridhi Minda and Pallak Minda, daughters of Nirmal Kumar Minda, have been appointed as Non-Executive Directors. Both bring years of internal experience with the Uno Minda Group. Paridhi Minda holds a management degree from Bradford University, a certification from the London School of Economics, complemented by attending finishing school from Institut Villa Pierrefeu, Switzerland. Pallak Minda is a graduate in Entrepreneurship from Delhi University and completed the MPEFB programme at IIM Bangalore.
This restructuring marks an important milestone in Uno Minda’s evolution into a professionally led, globally competitive organisation, positioning it for the next phase of innovation and growth in the automotive systems landscape.
