Uber has launched the UberReads campaign on its shuttle buses. This month long campaign is aimed at encouraging riders to read during their commutes and is being run on two buses with about 37 stops along the new routes. The expansion of these shuttles will depend on the response from the market.
The new fleet of electric Uber Shuttle buses comes stocked with popular books and best-selling titles from Penguin Random House India, offering passengers a chance to enjoy a good book instead of scrolling through their smartphones during long rides.
The entire trip will cost in the premium bus category, providing an environmentally friendly alternative to private vehicle use. Riders can pre-book seats up to a week in advance, make cashless payments, track the bus in real-time, and access a 24/7 safety helpline.
The month-long campaign will see the UberReads EV buses operating on predefined routes through some of Delhi’s commute paths, connecting business districts with large residential areas.
The UberReads-branded buses house a collection of the popular Penguin titles, ranging from fiction to biographies, and from self-help books to mysteries. Riders can choose a book to read during their journey and are encouraged to place the book back for the next passenger before they exit.
