The Dzire will be the first to arrive in the coming months.

The sub-four-metre sedan segment, unlike its SUV counterpart, has witnessed slow growth for multiple reasons. A majority of the segment’s progress can also be attributed to the fleet market, which is where a good chunk of the sales comes from. To revive the fortunes, two cars will receive a considerable set of updates in the near future.

The first car to arrive will be the new-gen Dzire, based on the fourth-generation Swift that was launched earlier this month. It will get a host of updates such as a new infotainment screen, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and automatic climate control. The car will also boast a segment-first electric sunroof.

The next in line to get a major update will be the Honda Amaze. Set to arrive in the form of a new generation model, the 2024 Amaze will receive a hefty amount of changes to make it more relevant. Honda’s small product range means that it will have to equip the new Amaze with all the possible bells and whistles from its parts bin.

The latter means that the new-gen Amaze will get feature upgrades in the form of a blind spot monitor, six airbags, digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, new touchscreen unit, and a 360-degree camera. The party trick for Honda’s sub-four-metre sedan though, will be the Honda Sensing Technology, commonly known as an ADAS suite.

Apart from all the features, Honda and Maruti will also set an aggressive price tag for the new Amaze and Dzire respectively, as there are cars with SUV traits present in segments both above and below them and that too with a better visual and rugged appeal compared to the compact sedans.
