TVS Motor Company Initiates Electric Motor Racing mobility outlook

TVS Motor Company (TVSM) has commenced the championship season of its E2W racing marking itself as the first Indian manufacturer to venture into the world of electric motor racing. Building on the success of two support rounds during last year’s TVS OMC, the 2024 TVS Racing Electric One Make Championship (e-OMC) underscores the company’s dedication to revolutionising the racing ecosystem by merging sustainable mobility solutions with cutting-edge technology and performance.

TVS Motor’s initiative with the TVS Racing e-OMC introduces an exclusive format for racing on the electric TVS Apache RTE race motorcycles, developed specifically for this championship. The carbon fibre battery case serves as a stressed member of the chassis, and the custom-built advanced Battery Management System incorporates race-special algorithms for advanced configuration controls and high levels of safety. The single reduction motor spindle connects to the rear wheel through sprockets and a roller chain, while the bespoke Ohlins front and rear suspension, Brembo brake system, and carbon fibre front and rear wheels ensure superior handling and stopping power. The motorcycles also sport Pirelli Super Corsa tyres and a carbon fibre fairing with the lowest coefficient of drag in its class, alongside a unique livery combining TVS Racing Factory colours with sustainability-inspired graphics.

Vimal Sumbly, Head of Business – Premium at TVS Motor Company, mentioned “This championship will demonstrate the potential of electric vehicles in delivering high-octane and thrilling racing experiences for the world to witness, and we are excited to witness history in the making. The company’s commitment to a greener future goes beyond the racetrack, and with this industry-first move, we are bolstering our vision towards sustainable mobility solutions and strengthening the future of motorsports.”

The TVS Racing e-OMC is a part of the TVS One Make Championship (OMC) in India, held alongside the prestigious Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC). This season, eight pre-selected riders will compete in a series of races, each completing four laps. The TVS Apache RTE has clocked an impressive top speed of 200 kmph, with the best lap timing recorded at 1 minute 48.777 seconds. The first round of the championship concluded with Sarthak Chavan securing first place, followed by Chirant V and Alwin Sundar.
