
TVS Indeon Ltd, a subsidiary of Lucas TVS Ltd, has expanded its lithium battery production facility at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Thervoy Kandigai, Gummidipoondi. The facility, which began operations in 2024 with an initial production capacity of 1 GWh, was previously manufacturing 1,500 battery packs daily. With this expansion, TVS Indeon has doubled its daily output capacity to 1,000 battery packs and increased its workforce to over 200 employees.
The company has also introduced second-shift operations to maximise production. The final target is to reach full operational capacity by March 2026, significantly enhancing the availability of lithium-ion battery packs for electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
T K Balaji, Chairman, TVS Indeon Ltd, emphasised that this expansion is a crucial milestone in TVS Indeon’s strategy to provide cost-effective, high-quality, and safe battery solutions. He reiterated the company's broader commitment to sustainability, workforce inclusivity, and community development. The firm has placed a strong focus on female workforce participation and fostering an industrial ecosystem that supports economic diversification.

The upgraded production plant was inaugurated by D Sneha, IAS, Executive Director of SIPCOT, TIDAL, and TIDCO, alongside key figures from the company, including K N Radhakrishnan, Director and CEO of TVS Motor Company, T K Balaji, Chairman of TVS Indeon Ltd, and Arvind Balaji, Director of TVS Indeon Ltd.
Currently, TVS Indeon supplies lithium battery packs exclusively to TVS Motor Company. As part of India's clean energy ambitions, the company aligns with the national goal of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2070.
