TVS Motor Company has announced a new Race Performance (RP) series that is born from TVS Racing’s high-performance race machine lineage.
The RP series will be introduced in the TVS Apache series of motorcycles, with the TVS Apache RTR 165 RP being the first product. The Race Performance series will be limited to 200 units, the company said. The TVS Apache RTR 165 RP is the most powerful machine in its category producing 19.2 PS power at 10,000 rpm. The engine is a 164.9 cc single-cylinder 4-valve unit that also produces 14.2 Nm torque at 8,750 rpm.
For the new RP series, the company has developed a new cylinder head with a 35% increase in intake and twin electrode spark plug, 15% bigger valves controlled by Hi-Lift Hi-Duration cams and dual spring actuators in addition to a revised bore stroke ratio of 1.37. The transmission is a 5-speed unit that is claimed to offer a precise and powerful riding experience.
The motorcycle is equipped with features such as a race-tuned slipper clutch, adjustable clutch and brake levers, TVS Racing decals, red alloy wheels and a new seat pattern. One interesting feature is the new headlamp assembly, where the signature Front Position lamp (FPL) simultaneously functions with low and high beam operations. The motorcycle also gets a first-in-segment 240 mm rear disc brake.
TVS Apache RTR 165 RP is available at an ex-showroom price of INR 145,000.
