TTTech Auto and BlackBerry have announced plans to expand their collaboration to tackle the increasing complexity challenges associated with software-defined vehicles (SDVs). This integration is expected to enhance performance and optimise the use of semiconductors in demanding environments like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in SDVs.

The joint product resulting from this collaboration will facilitate scalable architectures, ranging from zonal to domain controllers and central compute, as well as from fail-safe to fail-operational solutions. By harnessing leading scheduling algorithms, the design phase will be streamlined, and testing efforts minimised, enabling users to make configuration adjustments with ease and achieve consistent functional results. The product is pre-certified to meet relevant safety standards (ISO 26262 up to ASIL D) and security standards (ISO 21434). It is slated to be available for projects by the end of Q2/2024, with full certification anticipated in Q4/2024.

John Wall, Senior Vice President & Head of QNX, BlackBerry, highlighted the partnership's commitment to delivering a product that supports the complex needs of SDVs while maintaining the integrity of the QNX foundation.

Stefan Poledna, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder, TTTech Auto, underscored the evolving landscape of SDV development, emphasising the necessity of a comprehensive approach that addresses system-wide aspects such as system, safety, security, and software integration. Poledna expressed confidence in the partnership with QNX, noting its role in providing a pre-integrated and pre-certified solution to propel innovation in SDVs.

This collaboration represents an extension of a previous partnership announced in June 2022, where TTTech Auto and BlackBerry integrated the QNX Neutrino Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) with TTTech Auto's MotionWise safe vehicle software platform. Joint products from this initial collaboration are already in production, setting the stage for further advancements in SDV technology.
