Triumph Motorcycles has launched the new Speed T4 at Rs 2.17 lakh, ex-showroom. This Speed T4 is based on the Triumph Speed 400 but features many changes that set it apart.

To begin with, the bike is powered by a 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor but makes 30.6bhp at 7000rpm and 36Nm at 5000rpm. While it makes less power than the engine in the Speed 400, the company claims that 85 per cent of the torque is available at 2500rpm. This should improve rideability, especially in the city.

Moving on to the chassis, while the frame and subframe are the same, Speed 4T has a conventional telescopic fork instead of a USD as seen in the Speed 400. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels with bias-ply MRF tyres instead of radial tyres from the Speed 400.

Lastly, Triumph has taken off the traction control system to keep costs in check. Speaking of, at Rs 2.17 lakh, the Speed T4 is the most affordable Triumph motorcycle and it sits close to the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, which is its main rival.
