Tresa Motors, an emerging OEM manufacturer of medium and heavy electric trucks in India, has unveiled its permanent magnet synchronous axial flux motor platform, the FLUX 350.

The distinctive design, where the magnetic flux flows axially, has been developed in-house over a year of simulations, research, and engineering.

The motor employs a stackable arrangement of stator and rotor discs, creating a compact and flattened design, enabling torque-to-weight ratio and efficient power delivery, making them ideal for heavy-duty applications like electric trucks. The advantages over traditional radial flux motors include higher power density, improved cooling capabilities, and enhanced overall efficiency, a communication from the company said.

Rohan Shravan, Founder and CEO, Tresa Motors, said, 'By investing in the development of fundamental technologies like axial flux motors, we aim to elevate India's stature on the global stage and create a brighter future for our nation.'

Tresa Motors' journey to make FLUX 350 faced several challenges. The team navigated through the intricate interplay of 100+ dependent and independent parameters through a customised integration of simulation software. This allowed them to design a motor that exceeded performance expectations and addressed critical aspects of manufacturing feasibility.

Collaborating with precision manufacturers in Bangalore, the company overcame manufacturing hurdles that even led some big players in the industry to decline involvement. The result was a motor that flawlessly integrated Neodymium magnets, offering higher magnetic flux, and a stator lamination stack that was a true engineering feat.
