G AT variant introduced
There have been two major developments for the Toyota Rumion since its launch in August of last year. The first is that it has got a new top variant called G in the AT guise. This is a two-pedal version of the G variant and is priced at Rs.13 lakh (ex-showroom).
As compared to the fully loaded V variant, it loses out on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, paddle shifters, follow me home headlamps, front side airbags, and a reverse camera and is priced Rs. 73,000 less. This move was expected for a while considering that there is already a G MT variant. However, if you look closely, you aren’t losing too much when it comes to features in terms of comfort and usability.
CNG bookings re-opened
The Japanese automaker had closed bookings for the CNG variants of the Rumion just a month after launching the car due to overwhelming demand. This demand has been compounded by the fact that even Maruti has been facing high demand for the CNG Ertiga with a waiting period stretching to as much as a year depending on the variant. It is only recently that Maruti announced a ramp-up in production capacity for the Ertiga (consequently the Rumion) bringing down the waiting period.
At present, the Toyota Rumion is available in one lower-spec S-CNG variant priced at Rs.11.39 lakh and it sits between the VXi (O) and ZXi (O) variants of the Ertiga in terms of pricing.
