Hilux At Himtech 2024 mobility outlook

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) unveiled a special-purpose version of its Hilux at the Himtech 2024 symposium, an event jointly organised by the Indian Army and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). The symposium, held in Leh, focused on military technology for high-altitude areas and highlighted the need for advanced mobility solutions to support India’s defence forces. Senior officials from the Army, Air Force, ITBP, and other key dignitaries were present at the event, where Toyota showcased the Hilux's capabilities.

The Hilux, known globally for its unmatched quality, durability, and reliability (QDR), has been modified with the help of an authorised external vendor to meet the specific needs of the Indian Army. These modified vehicles aim to provide robust, all-terrain performance, perfectly suited for extreme environments like high-altitude regions. The exhibition at Himtech 2024 emphasised the vehicle’s versatility, with Toyota presenting two specific models: the Hilux FDV (Field Deployment Vehicle) and the Modified Hilux.

This vehicle is designed for demanding tasks such as remote location diagnostics, repair work, and transporting supplies, making it ideal for challenging military operations. The Modified Hilux, on the other hand, showcased its superior off-road capabilities, boasting upgrades like enhanced suspensions, specialised tyres, and a snorkel for tackling rugged terrains, thus reaffirming its reliability in the most extreme conditions.
