Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government Tool Room & Training Centre (GTTC) in Karnataka to enhance skill development and technical education.

Building on the success of developing 16 GTTC centres, TKM will extend its expertise to an additional 16 centres across Karnataka. These new centres will be modelled after the GTTC Magadi campus, envisioned as a 'Role Model' institute. The collaboration also includes upgrades to the Multi-Skill Development Centre (MSDC) in Mysuru to support advanced training initiatives.

Key aspects of the partnership include hands-on training for GTTC faculty at TKM’s state-of-the-art Bidadi facilities, where they will be introduced to the Toyota Production System and Toyota Way. The Magadi campus will serve as a benchmark for excellence in industrial training, showcasing modern training methodologies and fostering industrial culture. The initiative also includes training on sustainability practices, such as the Miyawaki method of afforestation, to promote environmental stewardship.

Dr Dinesh Kumar Y K, Managing Director, GTTC, stated “This partnership with Toyota Kirloskar Motor is a milestone in advancing technical education and skill development in Karnataka. By integrating global best practices and industrial culture, we aim to equip students and job seekers with the knowledge and skills required to excel in an evolving industrial landscape.”

Sudeep S Dalvi, Chief Communication Officer and Senior Vice President, TKM, added “This MoU reflects Toyota’s dedication to nurturing a culture of excellence, safety, and sustainability. The development of the Magadi campus as a ‘Role Model’ institute, along with 16 additional centres, demonstrates our focus on empowering Karnataka’s youth and fostering socio-economic growth.”

The partnership includes a 24-month review period to ensure successful implementation and adaptability. By introducing advanced training modules, upgrading facilities, and fostering industry-academia collaboration, the initiative aims to create a future-ready workforce capable of driving industrial innovation in Karnataka.
