As part of this initiative, the company has joined hands with new-age EV manufacturing start-ups and leading OEMs across two-wheelers, three-wheelers, LCVs and passenger cars. The digital platform from Ki Mobility Solutions provides the manufacturers with a wide service network across 250 plus towns for sales, service, insurance, roadside assistance, charging stations and parts. EV manufacturers will get access to Ki Mobility’s 800+ service centres across the country.
The impetus for the company to get into this business is the increasing sale of EVs, especially two-wheelers, over the last couple of years, with H1 FY22 witnessing over 1.18 lakh EV units sales, which is equivalent to 90% of the total sales last year. This stimulant drives the company to fill the gap for manufacturers through its digital tech solutions and mobility delivery model to support EV makers with customer-centricity, thereby accelerating their growth plans.
G Srinivasa Raghavan, Managing Director, Ki Mobility Solutions, said,The platform provides an opportunity to discover new business models that has been traditionally defined as the dealership and independent aftermarket. Further, Ki Mobility’s cloud-based service network would support the accelerated roll-out plans along with service promise to the electric vehicle manufacturers that would help them drive the competitive advantage.”
On the viability of the business in the face of EVs being in the nascent stage and do not require service as demanded by ICE hauled vehicles, Raghavan said, the new business works in favour of Ki Mobility as it is complementary to the existing set-up. Moreover, it would achieve critical being a warranty support player for the EV makers, which will become a distinct advantage for the company and its OE customers. Finally, it is a future-proofing business for the company in the electric domain, he said.
As servicing EVs requires specialised skills as compared to ICE, the company has invested in training around 500 technicians PAN India to service all types of EVs, he added.
