The Japanese automaker, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), on Thursday launched the Hilux pick-up truck at a starting price of INR 34 lakh, ex-showroom, India, for the 4X4 MT Standard trim level.
The truck is also available in the 4X4 MT high and the 4X4 AT high guise, priced at INR 35.8 lakh and INR 36.8 lakh, respectively.
Underpinning International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform, the pick-up is powered by a 2.8L four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission option churns out 204hp and 500Nm of torque, while the manual gearbox delivers 204hp and 420 Nm of torque.
Targeted for off-roading adventure drives on tough terrains, the vehicle comes with a hill-assist, braking aid, hill descent control, electronic stability programme (ESP), limited-slip differential, differential lock, and 700 mm water wading capacity for enhanced off-road capabilities.
It also comes with LED rear combi lamps with enhanced nighttime visibility and 18-inch alloy wheels. Other notable features of the vehicle include dual-zone auto AC, premium leather seats and soft-touch interiors front parking sensors, 8-inch touch screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play.
While on the safety side, it gets seven airbags, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake Assist, Trailer Sway Control, Emergency Brake Signal, Cruise Control, Shift Switch Sequential and Shift Lock System. Besides, it also comes with Electrochromic IRVM, a Reverse Parking Camera, ISOFIX Child Seat Restraint System and Anti-Pinch Driver Side Power Window, among others.

The Hilux was first launched in the global market in 1968. According to the company, it has so far sold more than 20 million units of the vehicle across 180 countries.
