The electric three-wheeler space in India continues to get new entrants, highlighting the potential and opportunity in this segment.
TI Clean Mobility (TICMPL), a subsidiary of Tube Investments of India, has launched the Montra range of electric 3W autos at a starting price of INR 3.02 lakh (ex-showroom, post-subsidy) for the 7.66 kWh variant. There’s a 10 kWh variant as well, but the price for this variant hasn’t been announced yet.
Montra electric 3Ws will be made available in 100+ dealerships across the nation, noted Arun Murugappan, Executive Chairman, Tube Investments of India. “Electric 3W is one of the EV segments with the biggest growth potential. This segment is one that will have a significant impact on India's effort to achieve net zero carbon emissions by the year 2070,” he said.
Manufactured in TI Clean Mobility's facility in Ambattur, Chennai, the Montra Electric 3W will be made available in phases across the nation, starting the southern region. The e3W features a 10 kWh battery pack promising a range of 197 km (ARAI certified), and 155+/-5km (typical range).
The e3W also features telematics, double fork front suspension, and a car-like driver seat. It can generate 60 Nm of maximum torque and a top speed of 55 kmph.
KK Paul, MD, TICMPL said the Montra electric 3W has all the space you need for driver and passenger with category-defining boot space for luggage. The company is also offering digital financing, 24x7 roadside assistance, two year extended warranty option and a three year AMC.
