ThunderPlus and Turno have announced a strategic partnership to deploy ultra-fast 1 MW charging stations along major highways in India. The initiative begins with installations on the Hyderabad to Vizag corridor and is designed to accelerate the transition to electric mobility for heavy commercial vehicles and electric buses.
The charging hubs are a part of ThunderPlus’ broader ‘One District, One Thunder’ initiative, which aims to establish at least one ultra-fast charging station in every district across the country. By integrating high-capacity chargers into highway networks, the partnership is expected to create a seamless experience for fleet operators and logistics providers relying on electric commercial vehicles.
Rajeev YSR, CEO, ThunderPlus, emphasised that reliable and widespread charging infrastructure is crucial to eliminating charging anxiety and ensuring faster adoption of electric mobility solutions.
Turno, through its subsidiary Electrigo, is focusing on reducing diesel dependence in commercial transportation. Founder Sudhindra Reddy revealed that Electrigo aims to replace 10 crore bus kilometres of diesel consumption with electric alternatives by the end of 2026. He described the partnership with ThunderPlus as a transformative step in India’s journey towards a cleaner and more sustainable transport ecosystem.
