Thunder Plus & India Post mobility outlook

Thunder Plus has partnered with the Department of Post, Government of India, to launch India’s first-ever EV charging station located within a public post office. The innovative initiative was unveiled at the Sainikpuri Head Post Office in Hyderabad.

Rajeev YSR,CEO of Thunder Plus Charging Solutions, stated that this initiative aligns with Thunder Plus’s goal of reducing 'charging anxiety' for electric vehicle owners across India. He emphasised that India Post, with its extensive network of buildings, provides a unique opportunity to establish a widespread and reliable EV charging infrastructure. The launch of the first post office-based charging station marks the beginning of many more such installations across the country, with plans to expand to various public campuses and government buildings.

Sreelatha, Chief Postmaster General of Telangana, highlighted the critical role of collaboration in overcoming infrastructure hurdles. She noted that while India is making progress in EV adoption, significant challenges remain, including real estate coordination, electricity access, and the need for affordable charging solutions. She added that this joint initiative is poised to support the electric vehicle ecosystem, creating mutual benefits for all stakeholders.
