The Mahindra Thar Roxx is going from strength to strength for the Indian automaker and the latest hill it has climbed is the volumes game. Buyers of the car have to wait an unprecedented 9-15 months to take delivery of the Thar Roxx. This number has come on the back of a 1.76 order book that Mahindra has got for the SUV since the launch on 15 August.
This is a very fortunate problem for Mahindra. The last time it faced this issue was with the XUV700 in 2021 where buyers faced similar waiting periods but that was in large part due to external supply issues brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, it is working on addressing this issue by increasing production of the SUV from January 2025. In our previous story, before the launch of the Roxx, we had said that Mahindra was producing 5500 units of the Thar and would expand this to an additional 4000 units. This would take the total output to 9500 units per month. Once the full production has been started it will contribute 11 per cent to Mahindra’s volumes and be the fourth in line behind the Bolero family, XUV3XO and the Scorpio N SUV.
