Tata Technologies has signed a 10-year memorandum of agreement with the Uttar Pradesh government This will see modernisation of 150 government-owned ITIs across 75 districts as part of an initiative to conceive and implement projects of high social impact.
Post upgradation, these ITIs will cater to the advanced skill requirements of students as well as prospective employers. They will also double up as technology hubs, including skill centres, for large industries as well as micro, small and medium enterprises, said Warren Harris, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Technologies.
“Our vision of engineering a better world embodies our commitment to skill-building and developing skilled talent for industry to manufacture innovative products,” he added.
With a total investment of INR 4,887 crore, this ITI upgrade project will see modernisation of these centres on existing ITI premises. The upgraded ITIs will offer six new trades and 23 new short-term courses.
They will cater to Industry 4.0 demands and train over 120,000 students annually at full capacity once upgraded. The project begins in March 2023, and the centres are expected to be ready between January and March 2024.
The upgrade drive will facilitate upskilling in sectors related to product design & development, product verification and virtual analysis, modern automotive maintenance repair and overhaul, battery electric vehicle training etc.
