Tata Nexon EV And Punch EV Score Top Honours At BNCAP Crash Test

The majority of Tata’s passenger cars boast 4 and 5-star ratings.


Bharat NCAP has announced the results of two cars after the latest round of crash tests. The Tata Punch EV and the Nexon EV, both have scored a five-star rating in the BNCAP crash tests.

Starting with the Tata Nexon EV, the electric sub-four-metre SUV has managed to score 29.86 out of 32 points in adult occupant protection and 44.95 out of 49 points in child occupant protection. The Nexon EV is equipped with standard safety features including six airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminder system, speed alert system, ESP, hill hold assist, roll-over mitigation, reverse parking camera and sensors, and iTPMS.

The Punch EV, on the other hand, has scored the highest rating by BNCAP, surpassing its own siblings including the Safari and the Harrier. The scores of this car stood at 31.46 out of 32 points in adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 points in child occupant protection.

With this new update, Tata Motors now has the majority of its range with scores of four stars and above in NCAP crash tests. The Harrier, Safari, Altroz Nexon, Nexon EV, Punch, and the Punch EV are rated at five stars, while the Tigor EV, Tiago, and the Tigor scored four stars in the crash tests. It leaves only two cars that are due to be tested, namely the Tiago EV and the X-Pres T.
