Tata Motors has unveiled two state-of-the-art R&D facilities for developing hydrogen propulsion technologies. The facilities, located at Tata Motors' Engineering Research Centre in Pune, India, include an engine test cell for developing hydrogen internal combustion engines (H2ICEs) and the necessary infrastructure for storing and dispensing hydrogen fuel for fuel cell and H2ICE vehicles.

The unveiling of these facilities is a significant step forward for Tata Motors in its mission to offer sustainable mobility solutions and achieving carbon neutrality. Hydrogen is a clean energy source that has the potential to revolutionize the transportation industry, and Tata Motors is committed to developing and commercializing hydrogen-powered vehicles.

In September 2023, the company delivered two first-of-its-kind hydrogen fuel cell powered buses to Indian Oil Corporation. Tata Motors is also developing a wide range of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks and buses.
