Tata Motors has made a significant leap in the mid-SUV segment by launching India's first SUV Coupe, the Curvv.ev. This vehicle offers the largest battery pack in its category and a driving range of up to 585 km. The Curvv.ev, available with two battery options—45kWh and 55kWh—boasts certified ranges of 502 km and 585 km respectively. It is built on Tata's advanced Pure EV architecture, acti.ev, marking a major step forward in India's electric vehicle journey. Customers can book the Curvv.ev from 12th August, with deliveries starting on 23rd August.
In addition to the Curvv.ev, Tata Motors showcased the Tata Curvv, which is available in multiple powertrain options including two petrol engines and one diesel engine to be released early next month. This move highlights Tata Motors' commitment to providing a diverse range of vehicles that cater to different customer needs and preferences.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, stated “With the Curvv, we are pushing further the boundaries of design, safety, and technology. The Curvv.ev offers an estimated real-world range of 400-425 km with its largest battery pack of 55kWh. Further, its specially designed fast charging capability ensures a top-up of 150 km range in just 15 minutes.”
The Curvv.ev stands out with its unique coupe design, featuring premium elements such as flush door handles and R18 alloy wheels with aero inserts. The vehicle is equipped with smart digital lighting, including connected DRLs, sequential turn indicators, LED projector headlamps, and a panoramic sunroof with mood lighting. The interior is designed for comfort and convenience, offering advanced comfort seats, front seat ventilation, and a grand centre console. The vehicle also boasts a best-in-class boot space of 500 litres.
Powered by the Snapdragon Digital Chassis Platform by Qualcomm, the Curvv.ev offers innovative features such as a 31.24 cm cinematic touchscreen by HARMAN, a 10.2 inch digital cockpit, and a JBL cinematic sound system. The vehicle supports V2L and V2V as standard, smart watch connectivity, and a powered tailgate with gesture activation. The iRA.ev connected car app integrates a charging aggregator, showing real-time availability of 9000+ chargers, and enabling seamless navigation.
Safety includes Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Level II, offering 20 features such as 6 airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, an acoustic vehicle alert system, and hill hold assist. The vehicle comes with a comprehensive warranty covering the high voltage battery pack and motor for 1.6 lakh km or 8 years, and the vehicle for 1.25 lakh kilometre or 3 years.
Tata Motors also introduced the ATLAS architecture for its ICE vehicles, supporting multiple powertrains and enhancing SUV performance and versatility. This new architecture allows for various body styles and powertrain configurations, ensuring adaptability and scalability.
Additionally, Tata Motors debuted the Hyperion Gasoline Direct Injection engine, an advanced engine offering sporty drives with high performance and responsiveness. The engine features a 350 bar fuel injection system, variable geometry turbocharger, and sodium-cooled exhaust valves, among other advanced technologies.
New iRA 2.0 & iRA.ev
Tata Motors has also introduced the new iRA 2.0 for ICE customers and iRA.ev for EV customers, offering enhanced connected services and features. The updated apps provide a consolidated platform for vehicle status, remote commands, safety and security, location/navigation, driving score, and more. The Tata.ev Charge-point aggregator feature shows live availability of over 9000 chargers, helping users plan trips seamlessly. These new apps will initially be available for Curvv ICE and Curvv.ev customers, with existing users being migrated in phases.
