Tata Motors Secures Additional Order For 148 Electric Buses From BMTC

Tata’s electric buses in Bengaluru have collectively clocked over 2.5 crore kilometres, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 14,000 tonne.

Tata Motors has received an additional order for 148 electric buses from the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). The order, managed by Tata’s subsidiary TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd., covers the supply, operation, and maintenance of the Tata Starbus EV 12-metre low-floor buses for a 12-year period.

This follows an earlier order of 921 electric buses, most of which are already operational in Bengaluru, boasting an impressive uptime of over 95%. The Tata Starbus EV, renowned for its advanced design and features, offers a zero-emission, comfortable commuting experience. It is equipped with next-gen architecture and advanced battery systems to support efficient intra-city mobility.

Ramachandran R, MD, BMTC, praised the ongoing partnership, stating, “The performance of Tata’s existing electric buses has been exceptional. These additional buses will further enhance our capacity to provide eco-friendly and reliable services to Bengaluru’s citizens.”

Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay, CEO and MD of TML Smart City Mobility Solutions, highlighted the significance of this order, saying, “This is a testament to the success of our Starbus EVs and our commitment to innovation and sustainability.”
