Tata Motors, the leading commercial vehicle manufacturer in India, has introduced its Turbotronn 2.0 engine, setting a new standard of excellence in the trucking industry. This technologically advanced engine, designed for Tata trucks in the 19-42 tonne range, brings forth enhanced fuel efficiency, reliability, and versatility. Tailored for burgeoning sectors like e-commerce, logistics, and courier services, the new engine addresses specific customer needs, providing an improved driving experience and robust performance while lowering the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
The indigenous engine has undergone rigorous testing, covering over 30 lakh km and 70,000 cumulative hours across diverse duty cycles and challenging terrains. Fully compliant with BS6 Phase-2 emission norms, the Turbotronn 2.0 is platform-agnostic and compatible with Tata's Signa, Ultra, LPT, and cowl platforms. The engine is backed by a substantial warranty of 6 years/6 lakh km, ensuring long-term reliability.
Featuring a 5-litre turbocharged diesel engine, the Turbotronn 2.0 offers multiple states of tune ranging from 180-204 PS, with a flatter torque curve in the 700-850 Nm range for superior drivability. Noteworthy attributes include longer oil drain and service intervals of one lakh km, ensuring increased vehicle uptime and higher revenues for fleet operators.
Rajendra Petkar, President, and CTO of Tata Motors, expressed, 'The Turbotronn 2.0 is one of our most advanced internal combustion engines, setting new industry benchmarks for trucking in India.' Rajesh Kaul, Vice President & Business Head – Trucks, Tata Motors, added, 'Its superior value proposition makes trucking more seamless, efficient, and reliable, resulting in higher revenues and lower costs.'
As Tata Motors aims to provide comprehensive mobility solutions, their commercial vehicles boast advanced features, efficient powertrains, and additional value-additions. Fleet owners benefit from better fuel efficiency, lower operating costs, high vehicle uptime, and real-time tracking through Tata Motors Fleet Edge. The Sampoorna Seva 2.0 initiative offers vehicle lifecycle management services.
In the reliability test, the vehicle maker initiated a 30-day endurance run with the Tata Ultra T.19, powered by the Turbotronn 2.0 engine. The vehicle completed nine rounds of the Golden Quadrilateral, securing nine records in both the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records. This achievement underscores the efficiency and reliability of the Turbotronn 2.0 engine, marking a significant milestone in the realm of commercial vehicles, a press release from the company stated.
