The homegrown EV maker Tata Motors Electric Mobility on Wednesday launched the Nexon EV Max in two trim levels with four charging options starting at INR 17.74 lakh, ex-showroom, India. The new vehicle is also available with subscription plans.

The updated compact SUV now comes with an ARAI certified range of 437 kms on a single charge, thanks to its 40.5 kW Lithium-ion LFP chemistry battery pack.

The new modified battery pack has added an additional 70 kgs of weight to the vehicle. However, Anand Kulkarni, Vice President, Product Line & Operations, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, stated that the company has taken specific steps, including increasing the spring rate to retain the dynamic abilities of the regular Nexon EV.

In addition to increasing the battery pack, the company has also spruced up the power output to 143 Ps and 250 Nm of torque. It claims for a 0-100 kms sprint in under nine seconds.

Furthermore, the new SUV also comes with multimode regenerative braking, including a coasting mode and a one-pedal driving mode.

In terms of charging, it will be available with options of a 3.3 kW charger or a 7.2 kW AC fast charger. The 7.2 kW AC fast charger can be installed either at home or at the workplace, which helps in reducing charging time to 6.5 hours.

Moreover, using a 50 kW DC fast charger, the Nexon EV MAX can be charged from 0 - 80% in 56 mins, the company claimed.

In terms of features, the new product has been updated with a Jewelled Control Knob with active mode display, all-new Makarana beige interiors, leatherette seats with ventilation for front passengers, air purifier, wireless smartphone charging, auto-dimming IRVM and cruise control.

Additionally, it also comes with ZConnect 2.0 connected car technology, offering features including a smartwatch integration, auto/manual DTC check, setting a limit for charging, monthly vehicle reports, and enhanced drive analytics, among others.

In terms of safety features, it gets ESP with i-VBAC (intelligent – Vacuum-less Boost & Active Control), Hill Hold, Hill Descent Control, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Vehicle Hold, all 4-Disc brakes and auto brake lamps for the revised re-gen braking system. It must be noted that both the battery and the motor are IP67 rated.

Available in Intensi-Teal, which is exclusive to the Nexon EV MAX, Daytona Grey and Pristine White with a dual-tone paint scheme as standard, the car comes with an eight-year of 160,000 kms for the battery pack and the motor.

The company claims to have delivered around 9,000 EVs to date. It is currently present across 75 cities with 2,100 touchpoints and plans to expand its reach to another 70 cities by this year.

Furthermore, in partnership with Tata Power, the company has expanded its fast-charging network from 50 stations across five cities to 1,300 stations across 200 cities now.
