Tata Motors has successfully delivered state-of-the-art Ultra EV air-conditioned electric buses to Jammu Smart City Limited. This significant step towards establishing an environmentally sustainable public transportation system in Jammu is part of a larger initiative led by the Housing and Urban Development Department of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
These emission-free electric buses, manufactured in India using cutting-edge technology, showcase advanced amenities and are powered by state-of-the-art electric power systems.
Rahul Yadav (IAS), CEO, Jammu Smart City Ltd, highlighted the commitment to enhancing mass mobility, providing increased safety and sustainability, and greater access and convenience for commuters. The introduction of these advanced buses not only meets rigorous quality standards but also contributes to collective efforts aimed at improving the city's air quality and reducing the carbon footprint.
Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay, Chairman, TML Smart City Mobility Solutions (J&K) Pvt Ltd, expressed delight at the flag-off of the electric buses in Jammu, following the recent commencement of electric bus operations in Srinagar. He emphasised Tata Motors' role in pioneering advanced innovations in public transportation tailored to India's unique requirements. The introduction of electric buses is seen as a vital addition to Jammu's transportation system, aligning with health, environmental, and economic goals.
These buses, having collectively covered more than 10 crore kilometres with an uptime of over 95%, showcase Tata Motors' reliability and efficiency in the electric mobility sector. The Tata Ultra EV, known for its fully electric powertrain, energy optimisation, and zero emissions, stands as a revolutionary solution for urban commuting. Equipped with advanced safety technologies, the Ultra EV ensures a seamless commuting experience while contributing to clean and sustainable public transportation. The delivery of these electric buses is part of a larger order to supply, maintain, and operate 100 electric buses each in Srinagar and Jammu, reinforcing Tata Motors' commitment to shaping the future of public transport in India.
