Leading commercial vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors marked a significant milestone as it rolled out its 900,000th vehicle from its Lucknow facility. The celebration, held in the presence of Durga Shanker Mishra, Chief Secretary of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, and senior officials from Tata Motors, commemorated the facility's journey and its pivotal role in advancing sustainable manufacturing practices.
Spread over 600 acres, the Lucknow facility stands as a beacon of Tata Motors' dedication to sustainable manufacturing. Recognised as a water-positive plant by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the facility boasts a 6MW solar power plant that significantly reduces its carbon footprint. Equipped with state-of-the-art manufacturing stations including a robotic paint booth and a body-in-white shop featuring robotic spot welding, the facility has been instrumental in producing a diverse range of commercial vehicles since its inception in 1992.
Mishra lauded Tata Motors for achieving this remarkable milestone, emphasising the company's role in providing advanced, safer, and greener mobility solutions. He also commended the vehicle maker for its commitment to women's empowerment, noting the significant representation of women in its workforce.

This facility has been pivotal in the manufacturing of our advanced electric buses, and has successfully delivered over 1,200 units, which have cumulatively clocked lakh of kilometres across the country. Uttar Pradesh has been one of our key markets and the Government of Uttar Pradesh’s impetus on infrastructure development has been a key enabler in boosting the sales of commercial vehicles. With our focus on Industry 4.0 integration, this facility has been delivering safe, smart and green mobility solutions to our customers.”

Gender Diversity
Tata Motors is setting a benchmark in gender inclusivity and women empowerment at its Lucknow facility, with women constituting one-third of the technical workforce. Actively participating in all operational shifts, women demonstrate a wide array of skills across the production of trucks and buses. Tata Motors is deeply invested in the comprehensive development of its women employees, providing specialised training and workshops to boost their skills. The company supports women's progress in manufacturing, with over 22% of new hires being women this year.
