Tata Motors has launched the Punch i-CNG starting at INR 7.10 lakh, ex-showroom, for the base pure trim level. With this, the company now offers i-CNG technology with four of its products including the Tiago, Tigor and Altroz.
The Punch i-CNG uses the twin CNG tank technology which debuted with the Altroz. Powered by a 1.2L Revotron Engine, the micro SUV produces 73.4 PS and torque of 103 Nm. The engine comes equipped with advanced single ECU and features direct start in CNG mode.
According to the company, the twin cylinders located below the luggage area offer the safest solution as the valves and pipes are protected under the load floor minimising the risk of potential damage. The enhanced rear body structure and six-point mounting system for the CNG tanks provide additional rear crash safety for the Punch.
The SUV also gets thermal incident protection that cuts off CNG supply to the engine and releases gas into the atmosphere as a measure of safety. Both the Punch i-CNG and Punch gets updated with voice-assisted sunroof and other features.
